I've been thinking about how this one-drawing-a-day-project influenced me. Since drawing has been quite stressful for me for years, I thought this practice would help me with that.
At the beginning it was really hard but motivating. Then it became easier of course, but more and more schematic, so I quit after 3(?) months. And, of course, I didn't have enough time to continue.

3 years ago I took part in a similar one-photo-a-day project, or maybe it just looked similar. The photo-project made me look at everything all the time, made me think about searching for something all the time.
It was easier because it needs less time to shoot (and choose which photo to post on a blog) than to decide what to draw, draw it, scan and post-process. It's also easier because one usually gets better results with photos than drawings, especially if there is really no time.

When I was taking part in the photo-project, I was really focused on changing my perspective all the time, even if the results were still quite schematic. But when I was drawing one picture a day, I was more focused on drawing something nice, on how it looked, than on the subject itself. So, to get better results, I started drawing from photos and it became extremely schematic and quite boring, I guess.

The photo-project was really a diary, and when I look at it now, it's a nice remembrance of these times.
The drawing project won't probably remind me of anything, because actually it was not a diary, it was just an everyday drawing practice. maybe 1/4 of this was a real diary. I don't mean that I wanted this to be a diary, but I didn't want to just draw Japan all the time either.
That's why finally I decided to draw less often, but to care more about the subject and emotions.

With both projects, I was quite disappointed with lack of any significant improvement, but the experience had a great impact on me.

I want to continue everyday drawing for next month, but academic year has just started, so it's going to be more difficult, but I will try.
And I've decided to change this project a little: once a week I will ask someone to tell me what to draw. it can be a single word, a sentence, an illustration for an article or a book, etc.
